[/span]Anaheim is a bustling metropolis teeming with individuals from all walks of life. The city itself leads as one of the greatest global powers within the world as it boasts statistics stating its remarkable influence on business, media, art, research, technology, education, and entertainment. One may consider this city to be the most perfect place to be: the golden apple of the world. In all reality, this is far from the truth. Those who can see through the concrete jungle’s facade may witness a place far more unsettling. A municipality where the poor get poorer, and the rich get more wealthy. A cesspool of crime and villainy in which those who commit injustice are left unchecked. This disquiet has thrown a great portion of the city’s population into a frenzy. Despondency quickly overtook the city as a lack of enforcement attempted to manage the situation.
About fifteen years ago, a certain subconscious had formed. The conjoined hearts of all those who held ill-will, ill-intent, or negative feelings. Below, in the city’s abandoned underground regions, this subconscious had began to manifest into malevolent living beings known as Apaths. Their sole purpose is to cause chaos on all fronts. From petty crimes to terrorism, Apaths seek to cause suffering. After claiming Anaheim’s underground city as their domain, the Apaths took to the overworld in order to drive their malice into the hearts of others. The malignant influence of the Apaths began to spread to every corner of the city.
When all hope had seemed to dwindle, the Espers, humans that of which possess supernatural abilities, took up arms in order to defeat the fiends that had desecrated their city. Espers began to work with Anaheim’s government in a joint effort to eradicate the threat of Apaths once and for all. Scepter, an independent faction created by Espers, was formed in order to seize and neutralize Apaths. Alongside the Anaheim Protection Force and Anaheim's central government; Scepter had joined the fight against Apaths, working under their own accord. This alliance, however, did not prove to be enough to halt the Apaths' destruction. The government’s corrupt acts continued even as the Apaths’ onslaught grew larger. The wheels of fate turned, and disorder within the city increased. The destiny of Anaheim now simply hangs in the balance.
[/span]Vibration is a supernatural energy that grants Espers and Apaths their powers. Vibration functions by allowing an energy known as Vibe to build up within an individual's heart and brain. This energy then may flow out to any of the body's extremities, such as the hands or feet. The primary use of Vibration is turning Vibe into special armaments such as conventional weaponry or manifesting it as concepts such as unique abilities or even changes in the surrounding environment. Vibration also enables an individual to push past ordinary human barriers. Those of whom produce Vibe possess the ability to enhance their own attributes; such as raising their strength, speed, and perception to superhuman levels.
The Vibe created and used by Espers and Apaths are in polar opposition to each other, with the former having restorative properties and the latter having more destructive ones. This is evident as Espers hold the ability to revive their own kind as Apaths do not. In its raw and limited forms, the Vibe of Espers manifest as electricity-like sparks while the Vibe of Apaths appear more as an opaque black mass of particles. Both energies can often be overlooked by the naked-eye when in small amounts. However, the appearance of Vibe can vary from person to person.
[/span]Apaths are human-like individuals that of which possess the ability to manipulate Vibe. Manifesting below in Anaheim’s underground city, Apaths are malevolent beings that are identical to humans. Claiming their birthplace as their home, the Apaths keep to themselves. A sort of society has been formed between the Apaths in which they allow each to their own with no unifying force among them. Apaths have no great goal or ulterior motive by the masses. They simply wish to cause suffering. Humans are not privy to the Apaths' status as non-humans. Due to this, they are not subjected to death for their crimes. Though they do not receive any sort of trial; the Apaths are treated with the slightest bit of benevolence. They are generally thrown into Apath-exclusive prisons, even if many humans and Espers alike would much rather see these fiends be executed. Though they are spared their lives, Apaths are not spared the pain. They are subject to a myriad of horrific experiments, however this is kept from the public.
In contrast to this, Apaths do actually hold the knowledge of their existence. Although they do not know how they came to be, they understand or at least view themselves as above human. Apaths do age, and can manifest as a child or young adult. Apaths gain most of their knowledge of the world, including their own names and identities, at the time of their manifestation.
Apaths obtain their otherworldly power from a darker version of Vibe. This Vibe holds destructive properties and can “curse” another individual, decreasing or “debuffing” the strength of certain characteristics. When an Apath sustains significant damage, their body deconstructs into a mass similar in appearance to their own Vibe. This allows the Apath to swiftly make an escape so they may recover their vitals and energy. Apaths are a dangerous sort and should never be underestimated.
[/span]Espers are humans that possess the ability to manipulate an energy called “Vibe”. The energy they exert being in polar opposition to that of the Apaths, Espers possess the ability to heal the wounds of others and even revive the fallen. The discovery of the Espers and the growing Apath threat resulted in Scepter to be created.
Both Scepter and the Anaheim Protection Force (APF) are to cooperate in the effort against the Apaths. However, not all Espers were so eager to join in the fight. The growing tension between Espers with their regard of freedom and the government resulted in one law being passed: Every Esper over the age of 13 must enlist in either Scepter or the APF. Avoiding this law results in the individual being charged for “grand endangerment”. Though many see them as heroes, Espers are often treated as liabilities and or tools for the government. Espers that of which attend school during the day are permitted to leave their respective campuses in order to fulfill their duties. They are often notified of missions and other objectives via telecommunication such as cellular devices. Espers also often receive financial aid from the government, even allowing minors to live on their own in order to pursue their training within Central Anaheim.
Regardless, Espers now serve as one of the greatest forces of defense against the Apaths.
(note: similarly to apaths: when espers reach critical levels in damage; they possess the ability to retreat from the battlefield via teleportation. this is held possible due to technology created by scepter, shared within the anaheim government. however, the only place one may teleport to is either the scepter or anaheim protection forces hq.

[/span]The Anaheim Protection Forces are the paramilitary police force that of which have protected the city of Anaheim since its founding. Contrary to its noble name and cause, the APF is infamous for its brutality and misconduct. Often choosing to shoot first and ask questions later, the APF has quite the negative reputation. In response, the APF had been considerably downgraded. Regardless, they continue to lead as the city’s main police force.
The APF mainly consists of humans as opposed to Espers. Today, they cooperate alongside Scepter, serving as the bad cop to their good cop. They often resort to utilizing unconventional weaponry such as tranquilizers or stun-guns in order to combat the Apaths. This is due to the fact that Apaths can only be harmed by Vibration. APF Espers often find themselves training under Scepter instructors due to the fact that the APF lacks an Esper training program. The APF solely focuses on combat operations and counter-terrorism efforts. [/ul][/div]
