[attr="class","writing"] Empty cups of instant noodles towered over the living room, with plastic forks and candy wrappers littered around it. There were empty boxes kicked into one corner of the apartment, and in the other even more boxes still piling with stuff. It had only been about a week since Leilani moved here, but really it only felt like a day. Still, it was about time she started getting more accustomed to her new home, and maybe a bit more serious about finding a roommate.[break][break] Today was supposed to be Leilani's first day attending Anheim Junior Academy, but so far she wasn't off to a great start. First she slept through her alarm, then realized her school clothes were still packed up somewhere, and got completely and totally lost on her way to the academy. She had walked the same path to school a few times to make sure something like this wouldn't happen, but even after all that Leilani still managed to make several wrong turns. This put the girl at the school gates almost an hour after classes had already started. She definitely didn't want her first day to turn out like this....Though since it was in fact her first time, surely somebody would take pity and let it slide this once?<br>[break][break] The girl's stomach growled, earning a disheartened sigh. There wasn't time for ramen this morning, and she was out of the candy she so loves to keep on hand. Leilani wasn't too worried, though. First she'd find her classes, then try making some new friends. After that, Leilani would sucker said friends into buying her food. It truly was a beautiful cycle she had going

Takeshi didn't like school already. He was sent here to get a "proper education" and "socialize with many people". Education wasn't hard. Sachi shoved so much information into his brain that even if he slept through the whole last year, he could've passed with at least a B. Of course, in case the teachers caught him sleeping in class, he didn't and just flew through the year with straight As.
It was the socializing part that got him.
The young blood hated socializing. He just couldn't do it. After years of dealing with bloodthirsty Apaths, rogue Espers and nasty humans, Takeshi's social skills have disappeared in exchange for survival skills. Sachi of course caught on eventually that Takeshi has talked to a single person in the academy except his teachers and his counselor. She scolded him before sending him off to school and jokingly threatened that he wasn't sleeping anywhere in the house until she was sure that his face showed some kind of level-up in social skills.
What a terrible goal, but why not try?
Takeshi went to class and avoided EVERYONE passing by. It's not that he wanted to, but no one had the face or look that they were willing to be friends with the lanky, white-haired child. After, experiencing much failure in talking to anyone, he decided he'd put in the sleep he didn't really get since he was making his own lunch this time. Sachi's cooking wasn't bad or anything. It's just that Sachi is so much of a health nut that there was hardly any meat or much flavor in her lunchboxes. So Takeshi took cooking to his own hands and thought he did a decent job. Right when he was about to close his eyes, a pink-haired, or wait... brown-haired? Some girl who looked like she came to school thinking that it was a combination of crazy hair day with wake-up-late-to-school-without-thinking-much-about-your-attire day, barged in through the door when class was already half done. Takeshi looked at the girl with bewilderment in his eyes. She took the seat next to him and looked very... disappointed? sorrowful? angry? annoyed? Takeshi wasn't good at these things. No wait, he's seen this word on the internet. He pulled out his lunchbox swiftly while trying to not drag any attention from anyone else and set it down with chopsticks right beside on top of her desk and let out three words from his mouth in such a quiet tone so that only the girl would hear.
"Are you hangry?"

[attr="class","writing"] By the time Leilani made it to her new classroom, she had completely given up on eating before the end of the day. Hell, she probably couldn't even call this a productive school day given how much she had missed, and so far not a whole lot of people had bothered talking to her. Honestly, she may as well just be home. Or at least that was her impression going into the room. [break][break] The girl's mismatched eyes lit up as if she were a child on Christmas, and her gloomy expression was pulled into a big smile. She had to make a very strong effort to keep her voice down, somehow succeeding in keeping it just above a whisper. "Really, I can have this?? Thanks! You're really nice!" Leilani picked up the chop sticks without hesitation and took a big bite of food. Her eyes only got bigger after tasting it. "This is really good, too! Way better than anything I could make! You're the best!" [break][break] The teacher's lecture was briefly interrupted by the sound of something large sliding across the floor. He paused and gave the girl an irritated look, but promptly resumed the class. Now, Leilani's desk was smushed right up against the boy's. "Psst. What's your name, anyway? I'm Leilani. Also, if you don't mind, could you help me find the rest of my classes? I literally got lost five times just getting here." That smile of hers took on a sheepish nature, but she was still laughing just as happily as a girl could. If this guy helped her find her way around, she'll have gotten food, directions, and a friend all in one fell swoop! Kekeke, things were certainly looking up for Leilani Astrata!

The young blood was scared out of his mind when this girl ended up with nearly inches from his face (At least that's how it felt to Takeshi). His heart pounded due to the zero to one-hundred moment he just experienced. The girl looked like she needed help, and he did his best to predict what could've helped. Judging from her smile, Takeshi was spot on. This girl was eating the food so fast, the boy was worried that she would choke and earn another deathly glare from the teacher.
Leilani huh? Even her name sounds exactly like a name that would come late with a frown on her face and then light up brighter than fireworks on Chinese New Year at the sight of food. Her smile combined with her laugh almost seemed so... cute? It was a type of happiness that made Takeshi want to keep an eye on for the rest of the year. Maybe this year won't be so terrible this time?
As for directions, this included some talking... Well isn't that mind-killing for this boy... But he was willing to do it. He whispered again while Leilani was dominating his poor lunchbox.
"My name's Takeshi... Can I see your schedule? Maybe I know a few rooms..."

[attr="class","writing"] It was almost amazing Leilani even stopped eating while trying to talk at the rate she was going. The chop sticks were a blur and the food was taking critical damage. But they suddenly froze, sticks frozen with a piece of food just barely saved. Leilani dropped the utensils with a soft clatter, then shoved her hands into her pockets. "Schedule, huh.....?" Her pockets flipped inside out, revealing nothing but a wallet and a busted up cellphone. "Schedule, schedule, schedule....." She continued to murmur to herself while sifting through her jacket, then snapped her eyes to the bag at her feet. "Schedule?" [break][break] The backpack was hoisted up into her lap in no time, zippers being ripped open faster than The Flash. Almost immediately, a plethora of candy wrappers started poking out from the middle pouch. Like, an unhealthy number of them. Leilani started sifting through this mess for a while, and soon enough those fireworks went off in her eyes again. "Aha!" [break][break] Leilani retrieved from her pack not a class schedule, but a bag of unopened fruit snacks. "I thought I had eaten you! Man, this day just keeps getting better! It's got to be a good omen. Like, from Buddha or Jegus or something." Having now completely lost focus, she tears open the candy and starts eating, sparing the rest of her companion's lunchbox for the time being. "Would you like some?" The girl practically shoves her gummies in the poor guy's face.

After dealing with crazy bitches in the Underworld, the only comment that Takeshi can have about Leilani is that she's a good kind of crazy. A type of personality that sparks your ass on fire but interestingly gives you a good feel of adrenaline as if someone forced down 3 packs of monster down your throat. Takeshi was glad he met Leilani. She looks like she'd be the gal that'd probably spit fire at everyone (literally).
"Yeah... Umm... Schedule... Woah!"
Takeshi nearly jumped out of his seat which earned a hush and a stern look from his teacher. What a klutz she is. She's so scattered, but Takeshi feels that she's in a great place in his head. Let's not forget what he's supposed to do for her. Takeshi takes few gummies and speaks again.
"Thanks but... the schedule?"

[attr="class","writing"] "O-oh yeah..." Lani offered yet another sheepish smile, popped a few more gummies in her mouth (all of the same color), and then returned her attention to the bag. "I....might have put you in....here?" She digs a binder out of the pack and flips it open. Sure enough, a wrinkled up schedule had been stuffed into the front pocket. Lani pulls it out and clears her desk back up aside from the food, of course, takes a minute to try and get some of the wrinkles out, then passes it to the guy beside her. [break][break] "Alright, so right now I think we're all the way down here..." she gestures to a class way at the bottom of her paper, then to the others above it. Mostly she was just taking basic classes. Nothing advanced or remedial, she was pretty average judging from her schedule. On the bottom of the sheet was what looked like a really quick sketch of a map to the school from....somewhere. Tough to tell without any clear landmarks, but there's pretty much no way it wasn't Lani's house. "I need to figure out where these are. Otherwise I'll probably get lost again tomorrow." She paused, pursed her lips, then added, "Actually, I'll probably get lost anyway. But with this, I'll at least be lost in the right vicinity."

Takeshi takes a look at the crinkled-up, old-looking paper (even though first day of school started just a short while ago) and deciphers the words. Though as ditsy as she seems, some of the classes are similar to Takeshi's, a second year in this school. It's a good thing that a good portion of his classrooms are near hers or the same as hers. It gives an excuse to talk to this girl more so he wouldn't be alone this year.
"It seems that a lot of your classes are similar to mine..."
It seems things are going well for Takeshi... and possibly Leilani? She went from hella depressed to energy drink happy so Takeshi guesses that he just made her day end nicely.
"I can show you the general direction for the last one because our classes aren't the same, but if you're not late tomorrow, you can just follow me for most of it until you got it down. Sound good to you?"

[attr="class","writing"] "Yeah, that sounds perfect! I uh....Well I'm pretty sure I've figured out how to get to school from my apartment now, so I think I'll be able to get here alright tomorrow." The girl makes sure to memorize her next room number before folding up the schedule and slipping it into her jacket pocket. Leilani was pretty thankful she ran into this guy. It's not like she expected to make too many friends on her very first day, especially since she missed almost the entirety of her classes. Still, one was a pretty good start, especially if he was able to help Lani find her way around. [break][break] The girl was about to say more when the bell went off, signaling the end of class. All of the students quickly started pushing their way out the door while Leilani just started gathering up her things. Once she had all her stuff Lani moved her desk back into its rightful place, then sat on top of it while waiting for Takeshi. Once he was ready to head out she let him take the lead, what with him knowing which way to go and everything. [break][break] So the two of them walked and talked, with Lani doing most of the talking I'm sure, until they made it to their last classes. Lani smiled brightly and gave a chipper farewell before disappearing into her own class, after assuring Takeshi he'd be seeing her tomorrow morning.
